Preparing Your Vehicle for Summer Driving

Everyone in the Midwest knows how important it is to prepare your vehicle for winter driving. However, preparing your vehicle for summer driving is just as important. Following these tips will ensure that your vehicle runs smoothly and efficiently during the hot summer months.

Check vital fluids

When it comes to your vehicle, the vital fluids are:engine oil, radiator fluid, and transmission fluid. These fluids are crucial to the smooth, efficient performance of your vehicle. It is important to top off and change these vital fluids as your manufacturer recommends in your vehicle’s user manual.

Check the air filter

An air filter acts like a lung for your vehicle’s engine. This “lung” filters dirt and debris from the air that enters into the engine of your vehicle. If this filter is clogged with dirt, it limits the amount of air that can get into your engine, which will affect the performance of your vehicle. Change this air filter as your manufacturer recommends to avoid compromising your vehicle’s performance. For more information on this service, click here.

Have the cooling system checked

In order to get the most out of your air conditioning system, your cooling system should be checked out by a professional. A professional will let you know if you need to get your system serviced in order to obtain the maximum amount of cool air from the system. Also, make sure your radiator grill is thoroughly cleaned in order to ensure air is getting to your cooling system.

Check your wiper blades

It is extremely dangerous not to have good wiper blades and windshield wiper fluid fully stocked in your vehicle. If you get caught in a rainstorm or your windshield gets dirty, you vision may be compromised. Avoid this by checking your windshield wipers for tears and cracks. If there are flaws, replace your windshield wipers according to your manufacturer’s recommendation.
